As with most doll repairs, this is how I get most repair jobs. The doll has come apart, the eyes have fallen out, the wig is no longer there and the doll is in general disrepair.

Most dolls usually can be brought back to life with simple cleaning and restringing of the body. In this case, the eyes were also reset to rock and a replacement wig of human hair was added. This would bring the doll back to almost it's original condition.

In many cases, the repair involves cleaning a very dirty doll back to it's original beauty such as this Parian. This doll's outfit was made of silk and it had yellowed with age and was full of dust & dirt.

After careful cleaning of the silk outfit, and small repairs to the leaking leather body, this doll looks like she did over 100 years ago.

There is no cost for estimating the amount of work your doll may need. Usually most dolls need general cleaning and restringing. New wigs are available and we stock human hair and English mohair wigs in all styles and colors. Eye repair of all types of dolls is also available and we have a limited stock of old German blown glass if needed.

Dolls by Judi believes in restoring the doll to it's original condition and style. If you have the old clothing for a doll, we would prefer to clean and repair the original clothing if possible. If the original clothing is not available, we research what was original to your doll and try to duplicate the outfit.

With each repair job, we do a free written description and appraisal of your doll so that you may have it insured later.

Appraisal service is available by appointment on large or small collections for insurance purposes. These services will include a written, signed and dated appraisal on each individual doll. Photographs for identification purposes are necessary in case of loss or damage and available upon request when appraisal services are done.
